Information for Music Event One

Tickets will be available to purchase on the day, from Medway Box office (add link) until 5pm, or from the temporary Box Office in the Castle Gardens from 5pm. These tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Collection of tickets will ONLY be from the temporary Box Office in the Castle Gardens

Wristbands will be provided on redemption of ticket at the Main stage entrance.

Ticket holders will NOT be allowed to bring alcohol into the gig – a full bar is provided on site.

Ticket holders CAN bring in ONE soft drink and a small amount of food per person – again, food will be available at the gig.

WRISTBAND/TICKET COLLECTIONS

Ticket holder will exchange tickets for ME1 wristbands UPON ENTERING THE MAIN STAGE area from 5pm on the day. Wristbands will allow free entry into the Royal Function Rooms stage (link) from 10pm, on a first come, first served basis.

Wristbands will NOT be available from the Visitors Information Centre at 95 High Street, Rochester (from 10am-5pm).

Remaining tickets will be on-sale on the day, both from the Visitors Information Centre (10am-5pm), and from the Main Stage Box Office in Rochester Castle Gardens (from 5pm).

Collections will be available from the MAIN STAGE BOX OFFICE in Rochester Castle Gardens (from 5pm).

Funke and the Two Tone Baby

Funke and the Two Tone Baby and Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs announced for the Man of Kent Stage in the evening at ME1.

Funke and the Two Tone Baby is a one-man blues-based, loop induced musical journey blended of overlayed guitar, stompbox and harmonica. Borrowing inspiration and influence from traditional blues, Funke and the Two Tone Baby is a stompboxing, beatboxing, loop-induced contemporary bluesman for the 21st century.

Described as the lo-fi/no-fi ‘off the rails’ skiffle of Maidstone’s Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs provides a unique take on classic Rock n Roll and Rhythm and Blues. Hobo Jones have playing in festivals all round the country, including the Edinburgh Festival.

Deadlovers announced as support for the Royal Function Room stage

Dead Lovers are 3-piece alternative group from Dartford, fronted by the unique intertwining duel vocals of Timothy J Hill and Martin Brett and underpinned by the clattering backbeat of Jonathan Chamberlain. Citing the likes of Talking Heads, The Kinks and Neil Young the band have found early support for their ‘inventive hymns’ from the legendary Steve Lamacq on BBC 6Music and will be releasing their debut album ‘Eyes Wide To The World’ later this year.

Deadlovers will support cult punk band Vic Godard and the Subway Sect featuring Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols on drums.

Music Event One is proud to announce the third stage of the fringe festival to accompany the Rochester Castle main stage featuring Public Image Ltd, The Wedding Present, Theatre Royal and Kids Unique. Joining the Nags Head Stage and The Royal Function Rooms as part of the ME1 fringe is The Eagle Tavern Stage. This new-music stage at The Eagle Tavern on Rochester High Street runs from 12pm-5pm, is free to enter and features some of the best young bands from Kent and beyond. As with The Nags Head stage we are giving away an exclusive free download EP featuring all the acts.

The line up will be – Pedalo Fred, Last Days of Disco, The Pantomime Villains, The Wildes, and Cry Baby Special & the Monsters. For full details and times, please click here.

Vic Godard and the Subway Sect

Vic Godard and the Subway Sect headline The Royal Function Rooms stage for Music Event One, it’s a free venue with an ME1 wristband or £7 on the door. The stage runs late from 10pm to 2.30am. Vic Godard is a cult icon, emerging from the 100 Club punk scene of 76, debuting alongside contemporaries The Clash and Sex Pistols. Subway Sect were one of the more distinctive acts to emerge from the first wave of U.K. punk, possessing a lean, primal sound that owed a strong debt of influence to the Velvet Underground and the Modern Lovers. The current line-up features Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols on drums.

The Nags Head Stage

The Nags Head Stage, which runs from 12pm – 5pm at The Nags Head Pub Rochester features some of Kent’s most exciting and up and coming live acts including Stuart Turner and The Flat Earth Society, Dead Lovers, Petts, Broken Banjo and Balance Lost. The stage announcement is accompanied by an exclusive free download EP featuring all of the stage’s line-up.
