Vic Godard and the Subway Sect – 12midnight
Vic Godard and the Subway Sect headline The Royal Function Rooms stage for Music Event One, it’s a free venue with an ME1 wristband or £7 on the door. The stage runs late from 10pm to 2.30am. Vic Godard is a cult icon, emerging from the 100 Club punk scene of 76, debuting alongside contemporaries The Clash and Sex Pistols. Subway Sect were one of the more distinctive acts to emerge from the first wave of U.K. punk, possessing a lean, primal sound that owed a strong debt of influence to the Velvet Underground and the Modern Lovers. The current line-up features Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols on drums.
Deadlovers – 11pm
DeadLovers are 3-piece alternative group from Dartford, fronted by the unique intertwining duel vocals of Timothy J Hill and Martin Brett and underpinned by the clattering backbeat of Jonathan Chamberlain. Citing the likes of Talking Heads, The Kinks and Neil Young the band have found early support for their ‘inventive hymns’ from the legendary Steve Lamacq on BBC 6Music and will be releasing their debut album ‘Eyes Wide To The World’ later this year.
